Atlantic City’s AM 1490, Sports Betting Radio, has become America’s first 24-hour terrestrial station dedicated to sports betting.

According to a report by Atlantic City Weekly, the station, which was formerly branded as WBSS-AM, will broadcast local programming alongside syndicated content from The BetR Network, as part of an exclusive affiliation with the GOW Media owned property.

Station Will Offer 24/7 Betting Content

Thanks to the deal, AM 1490 will become America’s first terrestrial station dedicated exclusively to sports betting, with content broadcast 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It looks like it won’t be the last however, with GOW Media confirming it is just the opening salvo in a series of expansions aimed at delivering content to an audience that is increasingly interested in sports betting.

“With the explosive growth of the sports betting market serving as a backdrop, we’ve seen incredible interest in airing programming from our 24/7 line up of sports betting content,” said GOW Media Vice President Mike Sinnott, in a press release.

“In less than a month, we’ve signed contracts in the biggest betting markets in the country and have dozens more radio stations in the pipeline. We expect to have at least 50 affiliates on board by the launch and are excited to deliver this unique content to a growing number of terrestrial radio stations.”

High-Profile Hosts On Hand

According to industry insiders RBR.com the station’s content will be designed to entertain and inform listeners, as well as providing them with access to exclusive analysis from the Vegas Stats & Information Network (VSiN).

To that end, local reporters have confirmed that the launch will come complete with a lofty lineup of talent including industry-acclaimed experts and internationally recognized names.

Among those involved in the new venture are experienced sports betting commentators including Mitch Moss, Pauly Howard and Brent Musburger. The station will also broadcast “Lombardi Line,” a weekend show hosted by titular host Michael Lombardi, a former NFL Executive and Ocean City resident.

“With the legalization of sports betting in New Jersey, sports betting as a 24/7 format and specifically the BetR Network is a perfect choice for WBSS,” Paul Kelly, President/General Manager at station owners Longport Media, LLC said in the press release.

“There’s a real appetite for sports talk that actually talks about sports. BetR Network delivers expert analysis and information that listeners can use to make informed bets and cash winning tickets right here in Atlantic City. Sports Betting Radio 1490 is excited to be Atlantic City’s home of the BetR Network.”

The recent months have certainly seen a major uptick in general betting-related content including the new Daily Line program from NBC Sports and ESPN's Daily Wager moving to ESPN2.
